Facebook fb.com
Facebook bought fb.com (Image is for illustration purposes only)

Fb.com, which was owned by US Farm Bureau, have been sold to Facebook for an astronomic figure of $8.5 million.
FB.com domain name, which was owned by American Farm Bureau have been sold in a private and long lasting auction for $8.5 million. It was specified that the sale was made in November last year but was not officially announced.
It was obviously Facebook who paid that much for the domain name of fb.com only, similar to the other domain names bought as they remind us Facebook. Numbers of domain names, that begin with the word “face” were also bought by Facebook.
Facebook announce yesterday that it will not be using fb.com for accessing Facebook but will use it for the corporate side of the company. At the end of last year rumors spread that fb.com was going to be bought byFacebook and the negotiations were taking place in this regard.
Another possibility according to experts is that fb.com will by used for providing e-mail service just like Yahoo.
Both the Farm Bureau and Facebook stayed quiet until now. Visitors of the fb.com domain are redirected toFacebook for now. Just a reminder that Facebook.com domain name was bought for $200,000 in 2005
